MyBot, for example, is an AI-based personal assistant. Catered to you personally, it helps with tasks like cooking and good books.

Another type is the general chatbot; it can answer any question you might have in life science or health care research. Finally, there are chatbots for specific topics. For instance, there’s a bot called Ask Sarah that takes care of your financial matters. But perhaps one of the most interesting chatbots in 2019 is the chatbot in charge of navigation in Baidu Maps.

Google Allo and Google Assistant are AI-powered chatbots which help you complete tasks such as searching for restaurants, helping you book flights and hotels, and even helping you with workouts. And finally, Miss Kitty Bot is a Pinterest-like chatbot where you can find articles related to your interests or just have fun conversation.

All these chatbots are here to help us in our day to day life. But how does it work? Essentially, AI works by responding to the way humans talk by analyzing our conversation over time. Overall, AI is a technology created to help humans.

With AI, we can increase our efficiency by just just having a conversation with the computer. Research shows that it is predicted that by 2020, 90% of customer service and business interactions will be done without an actual human and 90% of enterprise applications and services will be implemented at least partly in cloud computing.

When we combine AI with conversational interfaces — software — we get chatbots. And this is where the whole “conversing with technology” becomes interesting. Chatbots are basically software that converse with humans, but they also have the ability to make decisions based on what you say.

You can use AI to complete tasks for you, which will save time and effort. Some examples are booking flights or transportation, searching for recipes or even completing your taxes. And as mentioned before, you can also use AI to help you fulfill your daily tasks. An example is having a conversation with a personal assistant, which will help you with your work or home life.

Chatbots are also used in health care. In fact, there is a report that shows that up to 60% of medical students interact with these software to help them with schoolwork. And when it comes to clinical practice, chatbots can support doctors by giving information to patients, monitor the patient’s progress and helping the doctor in case a second opinion is needed. This has proven to be a better alternative than going to see a doctor in person which might take a lot of time and effort.

Another example where AI is used is in the art world. In June 2018, a piece of AI artwork was sold for $432000 during the auction at Christie’s in New York. And this happened again in 2019, when another work of art by an AI program was sold for up to $70000.

Chatbots are already used in various fields, but there is still some room for them to grow. They are capable of making sense of complex ideas and complex situations.

One thing that has stopped chatbots from becoming popular just yet is the lack of analytics. And it is interesting to note that only 27% of the women wanted to use this kind of interface, compared to 55% who were interested in using AI at work.

And in 2018, there was a study done by Yahoo that showed how technology companies can implement AI into their business or even start an AI company. Yahoo focused mostly on artificial intelligence, but there are also other technologies included in this study. In the report, key learnings were given that can help businesses to be successful. Some of the main takeaways from the report are: using AI for their products and services, understanding AI at a deeper level and creating unique AI solutions.

In 2017, there was a survey done by Forrester Research in partnership with Sirius Decisions in which the questions were focused on chatbots and artificial intelligence in different industries. The main goal of this study was to gauge how these industries felt about implementing chatbots and artificial intelligence in their business.

A QA company was asked to review the content of websites, and the top three industries that were seen as ripe for chatbots were ecommerce (28%), airlines (28%) and insurance (27%). Overall, these industries were seen as very good for chatbots because they can save time and money.

The report also showed that about 60% of the interviewees said that they use some sort of automation tool in their business. But it is important to note that there were no actual stats regarding the exact number of these tools.

There have been several other studies regarding the future of AI and conversational interfaces, but overall, we can see that most people are interested in using these technologies and they believe that this will be very effective in the future.

Mostly chatbots and artificial intelligence are seen as positive and futuristic, for it correlates to the way we live our everyday life. But because we still don’t really know how to use them effectively and effectively, we might find ourselves losing control of our chatbots.

Some people believe that because AI is so powerful it will be able to affect the world negatively such as changing policies that would discriminate against people based on their identity. If this were to become a thing, it would be the biggest injustice in history. And AI would also be capable of doing a lot more, such as wiping out a person’s memories or even manipulating a person’s way of thinking.
